New MFO Director Announced, Carrie Jones Says Farewell

I am so pleased to introduce you to Margaret ORiley, Michigans new Film Commissioner. I have attached the announcement about her appointment, but I wanted to offer my own words as well.

Transition always has its challenges, but I want to assure you that the Film Office is in good hands with Margaret. She has the experience and the energy to keep this program moving forward and I know she is looking forward to getting to know many of you in the industry over the next few weeks and months.

We have a tremendous team here at the Film Office doing great work every day to make this program successful. A new Film Commissioner may be coming in, but it will be business as usual in our office when it comes to processing applications, assisting with locations, supporting our local film industry and the countless other things these folks handle every day.

I am also committed to making this transition as seamless as possible and will work closely with Margaret to bring her up to speed on our processes, projects and outreach efforts.

It has been such a tremendous experience to serve as Film Commissioner over these past few years. I have gotten to know many of you well and your creativity, passion and hard work have been inspiring. I hope you continue choose Michigan as great place for film and digital media projects. I am looking forward to my new role as Executive Director of the Michigan Venture Capitalist Association, and am grateful to be taking with me so very many fond memories made thanks to so many of you.

Best wishes and with highest regards,

Carrie Jones, Michigan Film Office, Director
