i have a BFA in film from Art Center in Pasadena, CA. I also took classes at AFI in Hollywood, CCS in Detroit, and went to high school at Interlochen Arts Accademy. I own a FULL RED ONE mx package and have an underwarerhousing for it. I also have 435 and 535 packages, and recently acquired a steadicam rig (but I'm not ready to call myself a steadicam operator--yet)! ok, now that we got that out of the way: Iím a director, cameraman, artist and all-around swell fellow. In my youth, I learned from the best at schools like Art Center in Pasadena, American Film Institute, College for Creative Studies and Interlochen Arts Academy. But more importantly, I have a ton of real-life experiences. The next question I always hear is: ďWhatís your style?Ē Iím a real-person-slice-of-life director. I enjoy casting and working with actors and real people to discover their character, so when we go to shoot they feel natural and comfortable in front of the camera. Thatís probably why I love filming and working with kidsóbecause directing them is not directing at allówhen itís time to shoot we just play and the real kid comes out. (Or who knows? Maybe itís because Iím a big kid at heart.) I also enjoy the challenge of figuring out effect shots. Maybe because of my set building/design background, working in my parentsí scene shop. In those days, we did most of it in-camera but now a daysÖCGI, whee! Or maybe, as a kid I was always great at cheating and finding a simpler way to get something done quicker without studying. (Ask my mom. Sheíll show you at my grades.) OK, now for the stuff I think your clients like to hear: I have won many awards as a dir/cam, and as a DOP. (Download my resume to see what Iím talking about.) Which leads to my next point: I love shooting for other directors for many reasons. (Hell, I donít have to deal with the clients [as much]. And I can focus on my first loveóthe cameraóand not my ex-wife.) Iíll wrap this up: Besides some behind-the-camera talent, I have the toys. I have an iPhone with the editing app, a full RED ONE MX package, and access to 435s and 535s. And even cooler, newer toys for Red, like an underwater housing and a new Stedicam for her. And did I mention that I have a nice Final Cut Pro edit system in my loft? Did I mention the loft is 8,000-square-feet, and we can build and fabricate stuff and shoot in it, if need be? Bottom line: Iím a team player, and believe that as a team we can push the limits of our creativity to make the clients really happy. (Or, at least my mom. She always loves my stuff.)
